Competitive Tuition Fees

Greece can provide relatively affordable international study options compared with many other European destinations.

According to Study in Greece, international English-taught Bachelor’s programmes generally range from approximately €5,000–€15,000 per year. Greek-taught undergraduate programmes at public universities are offered tuition-free, although admission and Greek-language requirements apply.

For international Master’s programmes, Study in Greece reports that enrolled students pay approximately €3,000–€7,000 per year on average, although individual programmes can differ.

Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarships may be available through Greek universities, the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) and other programmes.

IKY has historically offered opportunities for foreign nationals covering postgraduate studies, postdoctoral research, and Greek language and culture programmes.

Scholarships depend on nationality, programme, academic profile and the specific funding call.

  • English-language proficiency

  • Programme-specific requirements

Admission conditions differ between universities and individual programmes.

5. English Language Requirement Guidance

English-taught programmes may require students to demonstrate appropriate English-language proficiency.

Depending on the university and programme, accepted evidence may include:

  • IELTS

  • TOEFL

  • Other recognised English-language qualifications

  • Previous education taught in English where accepted

  • University-specific language assessment

  • Interview

Exact English requirements must be checked directly against the selected programme because Greek universities set their own admission conditions.

6. Greek University Application Assistance

We provide support throughout the university application process.

Our assistance may include:

  • Application form preparation

  • Passport checking

  • Academic certificate review

  • Transcript review

  • English-language document checking

  • CV guidance

  • SOP / Motivation Letter guidance

  • Work-experience documentation

  • Recommendation-letter guidance

  • Research proposal guidance where required

  • Portfolio guidance where applicable

  • Application submission

  • Application follow-up

  • Admission-letter guidance

Study in Greece also operates an international-student application platform and advises students to confirm programme-specific deadlines and required documents with the appropriate university.

7. SOP / Motivation Letter Guidance

Where required, we help students prepare a structured and personalised study statement.

It may explain:

  • Academic background

  • Previous qualifications

  • Professional experience

  • Why Greece?

  • Why this university?

  • Why this programme?

  • Relationship with previous studies

  • Academic interests

  • Career objectives

  • Financial circumstances

  • Future plans

All information should accurately represent the student’s genuine academic and professional circumstances.

8. Scholarship Assistance

Ambassador Global Studies can help eligible students explore scholarship opportunities.

Our support may include:

  • Scholarship search

  • Eligibility assessment

  • University-specific scholarships

  • IKY opportunities

  • Academic-document preparation

  • Motivation-letter guidance

  • Application guidance

  • Scholarship deadline guidance

The Greek State Scholarships Foundation IKY operates various scholarship programmes and has historically provided scholarship opportunities for foreign nationals.

Scholarship availability and selection cannot be guaranteed.

9. University Acceptance Letter Guidance

An official university acceptance is an essential step before applying for a Greek Student visa.

Study in Greece states that students first need an official acceptance letter from their chosen university in Greece, and the institution must be recognised appropriately within the Greek education system.

We help students understand:

  • Admission conditions

  • Academic requirements

  • English-language requirements

  • Tuition fees

  • Scholarship information

  • Payment requirements

  • Course duration

  • Programme start date

  • Required supporting documents

  • Next visa steps

  •

10. Tuition Fee & Enrolment Guidance

Depending on the programme, students may need to pay tuition or enrolment fees before or during immigration processing.

We provide guidance regarding:

  • Tuition amount

  • Required initial payment

  • University payment instructions

  • Payment deadlines

  • Scholarship deductions

  • Tuition receipts

  • Enrolment documents

  • Refund conditions where applicable

Greek immigration rules require evidence that applicable enrolment fees have been paid when required.

11. Greece National D-Visa for Studies

Non-EU students planning to undertake long-term study in Greece generally need to obtain the appropriate National Visa – Type D before travelling.

A Greek National D-Visa is intended for stays in Greece exceeding 90 days and may be issued for stays of up to 365 days, depending on the applicable category.

For study purposes, students generally need first to be accepted by a Greek higher-education institution before applying for the visa through the competent Greek diplomatic mission or consular process.

Our guidance can include:

  • National D-Visa application preparation

  • University acceptance documentation

  • Passport documentation

  • Academic documents

  • Financial documents

  • Tuition / enrolment evidence

  • Health documentation where applicable

  • Insurance documentation

  • Criminal-record documentation where required

  • Supporting-document preparation

  • Interview preparation

Final visa decisions are made solely by the competent Greek authorities. Ambassador Global Studies cannot guarantee a visa outcome.

12. Greece Visa Application for Bangladeshi Students

There is an important practical advantage for Bangladeshi applicants.

The Embassy of Greece in New Delhi is also accredited to Bangladesh, and the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently confirms that Bangladeshi nationals can submit Greek visa applications through the Greece Visa Application Centre in Dhaka.

Our support can help Bangladeshi students prepare:

  • University acceptance documents

  • National visa application documents

  • Passport

  • Academic documents

  • Financial evidence

  • Tuition-payment evidence

  • Insurance

  • Medical documentation where applicable

  • Police / criminal-record documentation where required

  • Visa appointment preparation

  • Interview preparation

  •

13. Proof of Funds Guidance

Students applying to study in Greece must demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources to support themselves during their studies.

Financial preparation may include:

  • Personal bank statements

  • Bank balance certificates

  • Sponsor documents

  • Parents’ financial documents

  • Scholarship evidence

  • Tuition-payment evidence

  • Income evidence

  • Source-of-funds documentation

  • Accommodation costs

  • Living expenses

  • Travel expenses

The amount and exact documentation required should be confirmed according to the current visa/residence requirements and the student’s individual circumstances.

We recommend avoiding a permanent fixed financial figure on your website because immigration requirements and individual assessments can change.

14. Medical & Health Documentation Guidance

Applicants for a long-term Greek National Visa may be required to provide medical documentation according to the applicable visa category and consular requirements.

Greek diplomatic guidance for national visas lists medical certificates among the general supporting documentation that may be requested for long-stay applications.

We can guide students on:

  • Medical certificate requirements

  • Approved documentation

  • Timing of medical examination

  • Visa-document preparation

Students should follow the exact instructions issued for their individual application location and visa category.

15. Insurance Guidance

Health or travel-insurance documentation may form part of the long-term visa and residence process.

We help students understand:

  • Insurance requirements

  • Required coverage period

  • Policy documentation

  • University-related insurance requirements

  • Residence-permit documentation

The applicable requirements should always be checked before application because they differ according to visa and residence status.

16. Residence Permit for Studies

After entering Greece for long-term studies, eligible non-EU students generally need a Residence Permit for Studies.

Greek immigration rules provide a specific residence-permit category for third-country nationals undertaking studies.

Students normally need to demonstrate:

  • Admission to a Greek higher-education institution

  • Participation in a specific programme

  • Sufficient financial resources

  • Payment of applicable enrolment fees.

Our guidance may include:

  • Residence-permit application preparation

  • University documentation

  • Passport

  • Financial evidence

  • Tuition / enrolment evidence

  • Accommodation-related documents where applicable

  • Insurance / healthcare documentation

  • Supporting documents

  • Renewal planning

  •

17. Greece Student Residence Permit Duration

Under current rules, a study residence permit is normally issued for one year and can be renewed annually.

If the programme is shorter than one year, the permit may be issued for that shorter period.

Students may also be able to apply for a multi-year residence permit covering the duration of their programme, subject to providing additional documentation from the education institution confirming the total study duration.

The current EU Immigration Portal states that applicants pay a fee of €150 for each year for which they apply.

18. Residence Permit Renewal Guidance

Students continuing their studies need to maintain appropriate academic and enrolment status for residence renewal.

Students holding a multi-year permit must currently provide updated academic documentation periodically, including evidence of enrolment, examination participation and academic progress.

We encourage students to maintain:

  • Active enrolment

  • Academic progress

  • Examination participation

  • Valid passport

  • Financial resources

  • Required insurance

  • Updated residence documentation

  •

19. Visa & Credibility Interview Preparation

Where an interview or further assessment is required, we help students prepare to clearly explain their genuine study intentions.

Preparation may cover:

  • Why Greece?

  • Why this university?

  • Why this programme?

  • Previous education

  • Study gap

  • Course content

  • Tuition fees

  • Financial arrangements

  • Sponsor information

  • Accommodation

  • Career objectives

  • Future plans

Students should always answer truthfully and consistently.

20. Working While Studying in Greece

Eligible third-country students holding the appropriate study residence status are permitted to undertake part-time employment while studying.

Important Marketing Point

The current EU Immigration Portal for Greece states simply that international students “can work part-time.” It does not publish a universal weekly-hour figure on its current Greece student guidance.

For that reason, I recommend your website says:

“Eligible international students may work part-time, subject to their residence conditions and applicable Greek employment regulations.”

rather than advertising a fixed 20-hour or other weekly limit unless Greece’s competent authority confirms one for the student’s specific circumstances.

Students should always prioritise their studies and comply with the employment conditions applicable to their residence status.

21. Internship & Practical Learning Opportunities

Some programmes may include:

  • Internships

  • Practical training

  • Research projects

  • Laboratory work

  • Industry projects

  • Clinical training

  • Fieldwork

Availability depends on the university and programme.

Students should confirm whether practical training forms part of their academic programme and whether additional permission is required.

22. Post-Study Work – Important Current Rule

This section is particularly important because Greece differs from countries such as the UK, Australia or New Zealand.

Under the current information published by the EU Immigration Portal for Greece, after completing studies under the standard student residence route:

Students must return to their home country and submit a fresh application from there if they wish to pursue another qualifying residence route.

The current student guidance also states that a student cannot simply change the study residence permit to another residence purpose from within Greece under this route.

Important for Website Marketing

Therefore, Ambassador Global Studies should not advertise Greece as currently offering an automatic post-study work visa or graduate job-search visa for standard international students unless a future legislative change introduces one.

This is different from countries such as Malta, Hungary, the UK, Australia or New Zealand.

23. Accommodation Guidance

Finding suitable accommodation is an important part of preparing for study in Greece.

Students may explore:

  • University accommodation where available

  • Student residences

  • Private apartments

  • Shared accommodation

  • Private rooms

  • Temporary accommodation

Study in Greece operates a dedicated HouSiG platform focused on student accommodation and living arrangements.

We encourage students to consider:

  • Distance from university

  • Public transportation

  • Monthly rent

  • Utilities

  • Security deposit

  • Contract terms

  • Local facilities

  • Safety

  • Overall living budget

  •

24. Travel & Pre-Departure Support

Our support continues after university admission and visa preparation.

Pre-departure guidance may include:

  • Flight planning

  • Accommodation

  • Passport and visa documents

  • University acceptance letter

  • Tuition-payment receipts

  • Financial documents

  • Insurance documentation

  • Residence-permit preparation

  • Airport-arrival planning

  • Baggage preparation

  • Local transport

  • University Enrolment

  • Banking preparation

  • Mobile/SIM arrangements

  • Student-life preparation

  • Cultural adjustment

  •
